This old-style bistro offers a mouthwatering selection of traditional French food and wine.
Cave means cellar in French and this will come as little surprise as you peruse the wine list prior to your meal. I'd rate this the best restaurant in Cannes to buy really decent wines, without breaking the bank. A decent choice begins around the 20-40eu mark, but for the budding connoisseur I'd recommend going higher up the price range. If you're in the habit of buying the good stuff you'll see the value immediately, if you only buy a fine wine once a year; do it here.
For starters try the Aubergines à la provençale (Aubergine/Egg plant with provencal sauce) or Harengs pommes à l'huile (Herings with boiled potatoes). Follow up with a good selection of fish (try the scallops or cod steamed with garlic sauce ) and meat dishes (recommended are the beef entrecôte or loin of veal with mushrooms).
Make sure to save some room for dessert, the crème brûlée is light and alive with vanilla. For something a little stickier choose the Praline fondant.
This place is seriously popular with locals and booking is essential pretty much all year round.
